Much in the same way as Master Key and Typing Master, the main goal in Typer Shark Deluxe is to help players learn and improve their typing skills, and it even shows them their accuracy, time, and words per minute. A demo version is available to provide them with a preview of the gameplay.

Is Typer Shark free?

A free download of the demo version of Typer Shark Deluxe is available. PopCap Games developed and published Typer Shark Deluxe. The lightweight software does not need a lot of storage space.

Is it safe?

Typer Shark is a completely safe PC game to play. The program is free of adware, malware, spyware, and viruses.

How do you play Typer Shark?

Typer Shark is an engaging yet educational typing game. The gameplay is based in the ocean, where you play as a scuba diver. Plenty of sea creatures approach you as you go deeper underwater. Typer Shark features deep-sea fish, jellyfish, piranhas, and sharks. Various bosses will appear as you progress. The level of difficulty increases the further you go.

Tutor Mode lets you test your typing skills before you start. The results of your test will determine which difficulty level you will play. Tutor Mode assesses the number of words per minute that you type correctly. Your score will be based on your typing accuracy and speed. You can take the test more than once.

You will get paragraphs that you need to type as best as you can. Your keyboard movements will be shown on the screen in real-time. The words that you complete will be highlighted to help you follow along. Additionally, you can see the percentage of the assessment that you have completed in the right panel. The number of errors is beneath the completion percentage.

Tutor Mode gives you freedom by letting you skip tests by clicking on ‘Next Lesson’. Your typing level will be revealed at the end: Expert, etc. Two main gaming options are available aside from the typing tutor mode: Adventure and Abyss. Both of the versions have essentially the same gameplay. Each of the game modes allows you to dive.

The Adventure and Abyss modes

The adventure mode includes a map to explore the seven oceans. Challenges appear when you get to the bottom floor. You will get treasures by completing the challenges, like gems. You can review your typing statistics at the end of each level (WPM, etc.). New milestones will be listed, and you can gain bonus points.

You can pick a place on the map at the beginning of each level. Hints appear to give you tips at the start of the levels. You can mark the box in the window to disable the hint feature. The Abyss option does not have an endpoint. The level of difficulty will keep increasing as you go lower.

While the adventure game mode has solo challenges, Abyss has boss battles. You need to defeat a variety of bosses to continue. Letters or words will be written on the deep-sea fish, jellyfish, piranhas, and sharks. While jellyfish and sharks show words, deep-sea fish and piranhas only display letters on their bodies. Bosses release weapons with either letters or words.

Most of the opponents will approach you from the right side of the screen. The jellyfish will ambush you from the bottom. You will need to write exactly what is written on the creatures. You are racing against the speed of the animals or bosses. The enemies get faster as you get further in the game.

The enemy and boss types

Mutated variations of the creatures require more hits. You need to correctly type letters or words multiple times with the extraordinary versions. The classic Ghost and Toxic sharks only need one zap to be defeated. The ghost shark gives you words that are not real. The Toxic Shark will randomly rearrange the letters in a word.

Hammerhead and Tiger Sharks require you to type multiple words correctly. The Hammerhead sharks make you type two correct words, while the Tiger sharks need you to complete three words. Two variations of the piranha will appear. The regular piranha only needs one letter to be right. Two different letters will appear on the stronger piranhas.

Deep-sea fish are much faster than piranhas. You only need to type one correct letter to get rid of the deep-sea fish. The bosses that can appear during the Abyss level are the submarine, machine sharks, robot squids, and pirate ships. You can defeat the bosses by quickly typing the characters that they launch.

Dated yet charming

Seeing as it's an old game that was first released back in 2006, the graphics and overall visuals in Typer Shark Deluxe look quite dated, especially in an age where pixel count and resolutions matter a lot. That said, there is an old-school, retro-like charm to its presentation that many fans will still like and appreciate even to this day.

Productive game to play

Typer Shark Deluxe is a fun way to get better at typing. You will gain points for every sea creature that you defeat. You can use a shark zapper tool when the attackers are getting too close. The zapper needs time to recharge after each use. You can see the loading bar for the shark zapper at the bottom of the user interface. Your current stats will be listed at the top of the screen: level, points, lives left, etc.

What’s new?

You can download and install Typer Shark Deluxe on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and Windows XP operating systems. Typer Shark was released in 2003. The software has remained relatively the same since the beginning. No recent software updates have been made to the platform.
